“Mijn hele leven ben ik zwaar geweest, eigenlijk al vanaf mijn vierde levensjaar. De laatste jaren heb ik 150 kilo gewogen en de laatste drie jaar zelfs 175 kilo! Dat had te maken met het overlijden van mijn beide ouders, kort na elkaar. Op het moment dat ik met Cambridge begon stond de weegschaal op 175,6 kilo. Ik zat alleen nog maar op mijn stoel. Als ik naar de voordeur moest lopen was ik al buiten adem. Op de trap moest ik met letterlijk optrekken om boven te kunnen komen. Op straat werd ik nagewezen en zelfs uitgescholden. Ik was een echte emotie-eter. Als ik niet lekker in mijn vel zat, at ik niet één koekje, maar gelijk het hele pak. Ik was zo ver dat ik een operatie, zoals een maagverkleining, overwoog. Maar eerst wilde ik het nog een keer op eigen kracht te proberen. Ik had al vaker diëten gevolgd, maar dan viel ik nooit meer dan 20 kilo af, en ik kwam binnen de kortste keren weer aan. Door alle succesverhalen die ik erover hoorde, besloot ik het met Cambridge te proberen. Achteraf is dat mijn redding geweest. Ik denk niet dat ik dit met enig ander dieet had bereikt.”
“In elf maanden tijd ben ik 90 kilo afgevallen. Mensen spreken me op straat spontaan aan, wat eerder nooit gebeurde. Ik word niet meer nagewezen. Ik fiets weer, ik loop weer zonder buiten adem te raken. Ik kan zelfs al een klein beetje rennen. Het zijn de hele kleine dingetjes die mijn leven op dit moment tot een groot feest maken. Mensen die mij nog kennen van toen ik zo dik was, lopen me straal voorbij omdat ze me niet herkennen. Als ik dan gedag zeg gapen ze me vaak met open mond aan. Ook ben ik weer volop gaan solliciteren. Hoe vaak ik niet afwijzend en met minachting ben bekeken tijdens een sollicitatieprocedure? Dat maakte mij erg onzeker. Dat is allemaal verleden tijd en inmiddels heb ik een baan. Ik straal weer, in alle opzichten. Mijn gelaatskleur is van grauw naar gezond getransformeerd.”
“Het begin was niet makkelijk, vooral rond etenstijd had ik het moeilijk. Mijn dochter nam mijn taken over en kookte voor het gezin, dat was heel fijn. Mijn consulent heeft me door die eerste, moeilijke periode gesleept. Na twee weken merkte ik dat er geen moeite meer mee had om anderen te zien eten. Toen werd alles ineens een stuk makkelijker. Toen wist ik ook: nu ga ik er volledig voor, dit ga ik volhouden. Ik ga weer ‘normaal’ worden!”
“De begeleiding vanuit Cambridge is top. Ik voel me helemaal thuis bij mijn consulent en heb echt een band met haar opgebouwd. Er was meteen een klik, maar ook begrip. Het geheim van Cambridge is de steun van je consulent. Toen ik voor het eerst onder de 100 kilo kwam, stonden alle drie de consulentes van de praktijk mij op te wachten en hebben mij in het zonnetje gezet met bloemen en een cadeautje. Ik ben toen een dikke knuffelbeer voor ze gaan kopen, als symbool voor een hele dikke knuffel, die zij verdienen voor al hun support.”
“Inmiddels hou ik een blog bij en hierdoor zijn al drie mensen uit mijn omgeving ook met Cambridge begonnen. Mijn consulent zie ik nog steeds, dat is voor mij de stok achter de deur. Voor mijzelf staat vast dat ik het nooit meer zover laat komen. Vroeger moesten mijn dochters voor me zorgen; nu zijn de rollen weer omgedraaid. Ik ben bevrijd en geniet iedere dag opnieuw van mijn nieuwe leven, dat ik terug heb gekregen. Ik heb geleerd dat er gezonde alternatieven zijn voor het vele snoepen dat ik altijd deed en ik heb nu een gezond en regelmatig eetpatroon waar ik mij aan houd. De knop is echt volledig om. Ik heb geleerd van het verleden en heb ontdekt dat stressvolle periodes een risico zijn voor mij. Als antwoord daarop heb ik een hobbykamer voor mezelf ingericht. Als ik dat nodig heb, kan ik hier lekker hobby-en in plaats van naar eten te grijpen.”
“Ik vind het heerlijk om weer overal te kunnen shoppen. Ik hoef niet meer naar een grote maten winkel, want ik pas nu in maat 44/46. Nog niet zo lang geleden werd ik zelfs door een verkoopster doorverwezen naar een filiaal voor gewone maten. Een groter compliment had ik niet kunnen krijgen. Heel gek is dat, maar als je altijd zo zwaar bent geweest, ben je voor je gevoel nog steeds die persoon van vroeger. Dit beeld loslaten, is iets dat je echt moet leren! Met alleen je nieuwe gewicht ben je er nog niet. Na een leven lang overgewicht, heeft je geest tijd nodig om aan de nieuwe situatie te wennen.”
“Mijn grote wens is om te vliegen. Ik heb nog nooit in een vliegtuig gezeten. Daar had ik in het verleden twee vliegtuigstoelen voor moeten reserveren. Nu kan ik eindelijk plannen maken om te gaan vliegen en ik weet nu al, dat dit er binnenkort van zal gaan komen. Dat is echt iets waar ik enorm naar uit kan kijken.”

Bedankt voor de complimenten, ik voel me er ook fantastisch bij. Misschien een idee om uw schoondochter mijn verhaal te laten lezen. Ik riep altijd toen ik zo dik was dat het me niet interesseerde maar toen ik eenmaal bezig was met Cambridge besefde ik dat het me wel degelijk altijd heeft dwars gezeten.
Ik persoonlijk raad uw schoondochter geen maagverkleining aan. Het is niet zeker of het werkt sommige vallen eerst een gedeelte af en komen daarna het net zo hard weer aan. Bij de Cambridge heb je een super begeleiding en ook na het shaken begeleiden ze je in alles.
Ik hoop voor uw schoondochter dat ze de moeite neemt om mijn verhaal te lezen en er iets mee te doen want geloof me voor mij is er een geheel nieuwe wereld open gegaan.

Ik moet in totaal 29 kilo afvallen. Ik vind het echt ontettend moeilijk.

Het doet me goed om te horen dat mijn verhaal je zo'n houvast geeft. Ik herken je probleem. Ook ik had het moeilijk met het eten en het zorgen voor het eten van het gezin. Ik wil je wel zeggen dat dit alleen de eerste paar weken waren dat ik hier moeite mee heb gehad. Daarna was ik zo gemotiveerd door mijn verlies van de kilo's,dat ik er goed door heen kwam.
Het is belangrijk dat je een goede consulent heb. Waar ik zit zijn er meerdere en het zijn allemaal schatten stuk voor stuk en zonder hun ben ik ervan overtuigd ook het niet zo ver heb kunnen krijgen. Ik heb met de Cambridge hele leuke en mooie ervaringen mogen meemaken. Zo ben ik in mijn caterogie cambridge 500 dit jaar nummer 1 van Nederland geworden. Afgelopen november ben ik naar Engeland gegaan om voor de internationale verkiezingen te gaan en ben daar 2e geworden. Nu ga ik op voor de beste cambridger van Nederland ooit dus ben benieuwd wat dat gaat brengen.
Tuurlijk wil ik weten hoe het met je strijd tegen de kilo's gaat ben heel benieuwd!!!

Gefeliciteerd met deze prachtige prestatie; heb werkelijk tranen met tuiten gehuild toen ik dit verhaal las. Het ging dwars door mijn hart. Als je te dik bent, kijken mensen je op zo'n neerbuigende manier aan. Ik herken je verhaal. Januari 2011 ben ik ook begonnen met CB. Nu een jaar later aan het afbouwen en ben 60.2 kg lichter en zit in afbouwweek 3. Wat mij het meeste raakte in je verhaal is, dat je je kilo's kwijtraakt, maar dat je geest moet wennen aan je nieuwe ik. Ik kamp daar ook heel erg mee. Ik moet mijn lichaam opnieuw leren kennen en dat kost mij enorm veel moeite. Ben jij al gewend aan je nieuwe ik? Heb jij nog tips?

Bedankt voor je lieve reactie. Wat een prestatie heb je geleverd zeg, mijn petje af. Ik weet hoe het is natuurlijk.
Tja bekend dat mensen je met afschuw bekijken. Ik heb er erg aan moeten wennen dat dat niet meer is. In het begin toen ik mijn nieuw ik had om het zo maar even te zeggen, keek ik constant om me heen zo van bekijken ze me niet. Gelukkig ben ik hier al wel aan gewend dat ik rond kan lopen zonder dat ik iets van een circus attractie ben.
Ik moet nog steeds wennen aan mijn nieuwe lichaam al word het wel minder. Geestelijk vooral, het blijf me beheersen. Op het moment dat ik de weegschaal een beetje uit zie schieten ga ik gelijk al in de aanval om de kilo's er weer af te krijgen.
Tja tips probeer er zoveel mogelijk over te praten en vooral met mensen die hetzelfde mee hebben gemaakt zoals jij en ik, die begrijpen je. De meeste mensen om me heen begrijpen me wel zijn trots maar soms ook die onbegrip wat ik dan weer niet begrijp.

Wat ongelooflijk goed zeg!!! Onvoorstelbaar zeg maar gerust. Nu vraag ik me alleen af.... Heb je nu niet heel veel loshangend vel? Daar ben ik namelijk bang voor. Dan val je enorm af, maar heb je nog al dat overtollige vel aan je hangen.... Dat houdt mij eigenlijk tegen om zo enorm af te vallen.

Ik heb inderdaad wel last van overtollig vel. Het is wel een heel end weggetrokken maar ik moet zeggen dat dat het enige nadeel is aan heel het afval circuit. Ik ga er vanuit dat dit in de toekomst nog een keer herstelt gaat worden. Ik wil hier nog een jaar mee wachten omdat ik eerst voor mezelf wil bewijzen dat ik goed op gewicht kan blijven.

Dank je wel voor je lieve reactie. Om op je vraag terug te komen, het eten bevalt me goed. Het is alleen wel moeilijker om hier je regelmaat in te houden. Met shaken weet je waar je aan toe bent. Drie maal per dag en meer niet. In ieder geval ben ik nog steeds op gewicht en ik knok er ook voor om dit zo te behouden. Want één ding ik wil nooit meer overgewicht hebben. Dit voelt veel te goed.
De verkiezing van beste cambridger is afgelopen weekend geweest. Ik ben hierbij ook aanwezig geweest maar was niet één van de geselecteerde kandidaten hiervoor geweest. Ik heb genoeg fame gehad het afgelopen jaar en vond het zo ook oke. Maar in ieder geval bedankt.

Al moet ik er wel bij vertellen dat ik de laatste tijd geen blogs meer geschreven heb. Wel staan er een hoop uit de tijd dat ik aan het shaken ben geweest. Even dit kwijt wauw. En wat knap zeg , ik ben zelf ook te zwaar heb het zelfde gewogen als jij , en had me knop om gegooid , uit me zelf stoppen met snoepen , emotie eten is echt vreselijk je wil het niet maar gebeurt, ik was 85 kilo kwijt maar weerden deel aan gekomen , heb nu dinsdag een afspraak om aan cambridge te beginnen , spannend heb wel me knop weer om en doe nu al een week weer goed water drinken, en als ik emotie,s heb pak ik de ons en ga een groot stuk lopen even er uit , plaats van eten , maar ik wil goed afvallen en met een stok achter de deur hoop ik dat ik straks me net zo goed voel als jij, en hoop dat ik mijn moeder nog kan laten zien dat haar barbaraatje het kan( me moeder is ernstig ziek dus vandaar dat ik er nu extra voor wil gaan , wil niet weer alles eten en weer zo zwaar worden, jou verhaal hier , geeft me nog meer steun dat ik de juiste keuze heb gemaakt en dinsdag ga beginnen vol goede moet hoop dat ik je nog is kan berichten dat ik het gered heb , ik vind je er super uit zien meid groepjes barbara
